HTC Hero Arrives (at my door)!

A year ago the screen on my Samsung M-520 broke and I replaced it without thinking twice, got the exact same phone. I have always had Samsungs. for five years at that point. Then two weeks ago, the screen broke again. Now, I would just like to take this time to say that I am not rough at all on cell phones, that was my fourth phone in six and a half years, pretty good record eh? Anyways after the phone was deemed unusable, I began my search for the replacement. That search lasted all of about 28 seconds until I ordered the HTC Hero.

After taking the Hero out of its packaging, I was very impressed with the screen and the shape of the phone. While there are some things I would have changed on the hardware interface (like the existence of the trackball and placement of the home and back button so close to the bottom of the phone) they are a minor annoyance at their worst, they are not design elements that will discourage anyone from buying the phone.

Upon turning on the device, I was impressed with the response of the touch screen. The ability to make a call is a little challenging at first, but I found a fantastic widget within the phone that made the “Phone” button almost useless. The widget takes up one of the seven “scene” screens and lets you place pictures of contacts within the widget box. One touch of the persons picture and the call is underway.
