Portable Player Progression
Now I’m just going to come out and say it. I love Apple. I love their computers, I love their software, I love their stores, and most of all, I love the Ipod. When I received my first Ipod I must admit, I was not thrilled. Mainly because I had just purchased and loaded 10 new mini discs for my Sony MZ-S1 Minidisc player, and I thought I was going to be set for a while on the portable music front. But no, as it turned out, (like it has a few times after) I had no idea what I wanted, but Apple did. I am on my third Ipod now, and it is an Ipod Touch. What an amazing machine. The Touch is an entirely different gizmo than the other Ipods for a few main reasons. Number one is the size of the screen. I don’t know if anyone has ever watched an entire video on the Ipod classic, but it seems like too much of a task. The screen of the touch, is just big enough to be able to enjoy a video on for an extended period of time. Second, the ability to connect to the internet and browser in the closest thing a mobile device has to a real desktop class browser is just fantastic. And third, the apps. I could go on and on about the apps that I have on my Ipod (hmm maybe I will…) because there are just so many cool and unique ones out there, and its just fun to talk about them. The best thing about the Ipod is that it eliminates all time that was previously “bordem time” or “alone time”. example, Before Ipod Touch: “Weak, the other party is going to be late to dinner and I’m already seated at the table waiting.” After Ipod Touch: “Fieldrunners time!” There are plenty of rumors running around about Apple changing the Ipod Touch by adding a faster processor and a camera. And I must say, that if these rumors are indeed true, I am going to have to consider buying my fourth Ipod…
